Cheap flights to Sofia at Last!, 26.06.2005
On 18th September 2005, Wizz Air starts 29 euro flights from Sofia to London, three times a week.
This news is hopefully just the beginning of cheaper air fares to Bulgaria.
Flights will start at 29 euros but will not include airport fees and to promote the new route, Wizz Air is offering 10,000 tickets priced just 1 euro each (taxes and charges are to be paid) for travel between 18 September 2005 and 25th March 2006.
Wizz Air is a Hungarian company registered in London which has already taken off - literally - in other East European countries like Poland and Hungary with huge success.
Jozef Veradi, Chief Executive Officer of Wizz Air, said at a press conference in Sofia, where the announcement was made: "The Bulgarian market entry represented a strategic move for Wizz Air that will expand its operations in Eastern Europe, beyond the boundaries of the EU.
Shortly, citizens of Bulgaria will benefit from Wizz Air's low fares and comfortable customer services which will undoubtedly revolutionise air travel in the country. Wizz Air will change the travel industry here for the benefit of the country and the people of Bulgaria."
I have checked out the site and it's great news for those living near Luton Airport which is where the flights will depart from, but I am sure it won't be long before Wizz Air starts delivering the same service from other airports. And at 29 euros it's worth the extra miles if Luton isn't your local airport!
