In every Bulgarian house there is at least one copper vessel - Turkish coffee-pot, large baking dish for our grandmother’s jam, bowls or others. However, today’s coppersmith masters are near extinction. Hassan Hassanov from Veliko Tarnovo is 81 years old but he never gave up the craft he inherited from his father and grandfather. People say for him, that he is the oldest coppersmith in Bulgaria. Samovodska street wouldn’t be the same without him and without the monotonous knock of his mallet with which he creates his vessels. The old master is happy that his son Hussein has already taken the baton and he will continue the craft.
