When you enter at Todor Kushlev’s workshop, you cannot miss to pay attention to the atmosphere that surrounds you. Old wooden shelves, instruments made out of wood, a person who stays behind the counter with a spirit-lamp in front of him. In the craftsman’s mouth you will see some odd-looking metal tubule as from time to time he uses it to blow air through the flame so that he could stick small silver details. The jewellers know this blower and spirit-lamp technique but it is a long time forgotten. For Todor Kushlev, however, this is a tradition and his specialty is filigree - an old jewellery technique in which a gentle lace pattern is made from a metallic thread (silver or gold).
