Ballet Arabesk

ROMEO AND JULIET

Ballet by Sergey Prokofiev

III Summer Season of Bulgarian Opera Theatres "Stage of the Ages" will be opened on July 7th, 2018 (Saturday), with the ballet "Romeo and Juliet" performed by the ballet "Arabesk".
Music - Sergey Prokofiev,
Scenographer - Ivan Tokadzhiev,
Costumes - Nikolina Kostova-Bogdanova
The authors have created a modern reading of the Shakespeare's play, rediscovering Shakespeare's perception of time and place, of truth, knowledge, soul and the place of a human in the world, of the relations God-man, man-man and man-power.
The show sets the question of the good that brings evil and the price of an inappropriate piece of advice. How do we treat the responsibility for our actions today and shouldn't we give up from all claims of innocence if we want to live with our depths? Has anything changed in the human's consciousness and behaviour today and can we grasp and realize the laws and generic marks of a modern era? Where is the love nowadays? Is it a temporal psychosis bringing destruction to itself and the others, a logical continuation of the oblivious prerequisite "my soul is in the hands of the other person" or a glorious naivety?
The roles of Romeo and Juliet are given to the youngest artists from Ballet "Arabesk" - Victoria Petrova and Philip Malinov, who are being partnered by the leading soloists of the troupe – Daniela Ivanova and Asen Nakov in the roles of Juliet’s Nurse and Friar Laurence, characters that by the directing idea of the choreographer are in the bottom of the tragical denouement. In the role of Mercutio you will see Vasil Dipchikov, the mother - Angelina Gavrolova, Benvolio - Stephan Vuchov, Tybalt - Ervin Esen, Paris - Valeri Milenkov, Juliet's friends - Petya Koleva amd Andreya Andonova, as well as some of the other participants: Elizabeth Yakimova, Mariyana Krancheva, Mariya Kasabova, Stephka Tabakova, Tanya Katsarova, Teodora Drumeva, Svetlozar Tanev.

AIDA

Opera in four acts by Giuseppe Verdi

The State Opera – Burgas will present on August 18th, 2018 (Saturday), the opera "Aida" by Giuseppe Verdi. The "Aida" opera is Verdi's most famous work. It has long been a myth that it was written because of the opening of the Suez Canal – which, in fact, is not true.
The libretto was written by four authors and it is based on an Egyptian legend, deciphered from a papyrus. The act in the opera takes place in Memphys and Thebes during the conflict between Egypt and Ethiopia. Aida is an Ethiopian princess who has been captured in Egypt. The Egyptian military commander Radames is in love with her but the duty condemns him to be loyal to the Pharaoh.
Amneris, the daughter of the Pharaoh, is in love with Radames. His military victory allows him to ask for mercy for the Ethiopians. In return, he has to get engaged to Amneris. He however manages to organize the escape of Aida and her compatriots but in order to do this he commits betrayal – he reveals the positions of his troops. The military commander manages to save Aida from a certain death, which vows him to court. The verdict is to be buried alive in a tomb. Even Amneris' efforts fail to save him. But his beloved Aida finds him in the tomb.

There will be a special gift for the audience – the audio-visual show "Tsarevgrad Turnov – sound and light", which will be broadcasted after the end of the opera.

From then on, the fate of the musical is the same as the novel's fate - the fate of world fame. The statistics show that: from 1967 to present time, "The Man of La Mancha" has got between 12,000 and 18,000 productions worldwide.
